Running Late

Don't you hate that feeling of running late - I mean, I must subconsciously love it because I am constantly running late...especially this morning, the weather has me in outfit crisis mode. Do I bring out winter sweaters, but well its not that cold...I am the epitome of layering today - cardigan, cotton tee, tank top and chino blazer!

Earlier I posted about our Breville Panini grill we received as an engagement present - well FI has been dying to use it and I knew we wouldn't last through the summer, so we broke it in last night. Damn, it was good - we paninied (word ?) fresh deli sliced ham and swiss cheese on everything bagels and they were delicious. Now, we are trying to figure out how to have a panini every night for dinner - sweet, just in time for my summer diet!

Finally found a florist, yay! She was so sweet and very helpful with my choices. Also, I originally wanted everything ALL hydrangea but I'm going to branch out (no pun intended, har har) - I think with some roses and dahlias - I like the way they look. Now, I can get a better vision in my head of how it is all going to look.
We decided to go with the navy beach embossed J.Crew dresses for the bridesmaids. We thought the navy made it less casual. We are in an unusual (not bad) position with the wedding because the ceremony is going to be a nuptial mass in a lovely church, but the reception is literally a block away from the beach - so, we are in a "close to the beach, but want to stay elegant" medium. Also, they are going to have an ivory grosgrain ribbon around the waist (if only I could do the nifty draw on ribbon like Mrs. P at Chic) to tie the girls to my dress, which is ivory.

I had not decided about shoes at all - I knew I wanted metallic sandals but after reading MMM's post yesterday on shoes, I saw these Target ones and thought, I really like those & they would be easy and perfect for my girls to get - so I gave them the go ahead ,
Now, my next question for you bloggers is - how does one successfully coordinate Out of Town bags for all the guests when they are arriving at different times? Sarah at The Seven Spot
blogged about her cute boxes today & reminded me of a little conundrum we are having. I'll back up, as I mentioned before our reception is on an island (Fripp Island, SC) a really laid-back family resort area. Our wedding is technically "destination" since neither of us are from there. I have a good amount of family from that area, but most people are traveling. Some are just staying at a local hotel for the weekend, quite a few guests are making long weekends and staying in villas for 3 or 4 nights. Then, we have some family who are making vacations out of this and staying for a whole week. My fiance and I are both arriving early with each of our families to stay a week in a house. Should we deliver out of town bags personally because some people will arrive on Saturday, some Sunday ...you get the idea - how do we do this?

Oh, by the way, loving the blogging community and the reason I'm usually running late in the morning is because I'm reading my blogs!! Also, I've been reading so many more lately & I am going to update my blogroll soon :)

We just went to a beach wedding in Bald Head Island and the bride coordinated with the local B&B and the rental company to have the bags in room before the guests check in. We only advised our guests on one hotel (and negotiated a cheaper rate) and had the out of town bags waiting for them at check-in!

Ugh, most of the weddings I have been involved with have had nightmares with getting the bags delivered. I don't understand why its so difficult for the hotels - you would think they deal with this all the time.

We had a similar problem with our wedding, as most guests were staying one place but there were a few staying at other hotels. For those staying at other hotels, I dropped off the buckets the morning that they were scheduled to arrive and gave the front desk their name and had them check to see what room they would be in and put that on a little post-it on the bucket. It worked well, everyone got their bags! I think you just have to check carefully with hotel staff as they change shifts often and a different person might be there from when you dropped the bags off. You might also call the front desk after you know your guest has checked in to confirm, and at worst case, they could bring the bag/basket etc, up right away if they had forgotten!

I am worried about the hotels because I've had friends who have had numerous bags (and not to mention $) leftover because the hotel "forgot" to give them their OOT bags. I'm more concerned about figuring out how to get OOT bags to people who are rentings houses or condos...not as easy!

See if you can't coordinate it with a local rental company that rents out most of the villas and such. They may charge you, but try to negotiate a flat rate.

Do you have a member of your bridal party who would "want" to "volunteer" to handle this for you with the rentals, hotels and personal deliveries?

Although I haven't quite conquered this task, my wedding is June 23, I think the hotels you've blocked will give you an up to date list of reservations. You can drop the bags off at the hotels and ask them to pass them out as folks arrive. I've heard a few will charge, but hopefully most will be kind and do it as a courtesy.

We had people stay in cottages at our wedding site and then a local hotel. Both places took our OOT boxes and gave them out at check in. No one charged us extra and everyone got theirs. When will you be getting there? I think if you could fit it in, I would personally deliver the OOT bags to the people that got their before you, or have a family member/bridal party member help you out with this. I think because we were in a small town in SC, it wasn't a problem. Since you are going to be in another small town in SC, I think you should be fine with them getting delivered as well.

You are going to be crazy with last minute things and greeting your guest! Someone will offer to help out with something and before you say, "Everything is under control." you should say..."Well there is one thing that would be SO helpful! My highschool friend asked me to be "available" at her destination wedding and I was happy to help her out!

Sounds like you've been given a lot of sound advice regarding the OOT bags already so I'm going to turn to the issue of the word "Paninied." As far as I know, it's not a word. Yet. But it sure as heck should be one, and you, my dear, should be given full credit for coining the new word!

I'm with Libby, I love the word "Paninied". I might have to use that one.

Ok, those are the exact shoes I got for my bridesmaids. Can't beat the price, and they look really nice in person.

So, I am not adressing your wedding bag dilema, cause I didn't have to worry about any of that, we got married barefoot on the beach in Cape Cod with just family. My Dad officiated! Anyway, I can totally relate about "running late" it should be my middle name! And because I am taking the time to comment on your post and not getting my Monkey(older son) dressed, I will probably be late today!!!! I could talk about this issue forever, but alas, don't want to be toooooo late!
