Working for the Weekend

March is kinda crazy around here!
Thanks so much Mrs. P at Chic for picking out some outfits from of course, my favorite places! I love them. I'll let yall know what I decide!
Speaking of purchases, my birthday is coming up on Friday - yess! We have a few friends coming in town for sushi and drinks, but I decided I needed a little early present from J.Crew. I ordered the favorite fit capris in navy, one of their elbow length tees, a chocolate brown cardigan and this little tote for the summer:
I'll get it monogrammed, but I don't know about you girls getting married soon but I'm at a monogram crossroads (oh, the horror!) because I could, I suppose go ahead and get my new initials because it is kind of pointless to get my old ones. I may just stick to the single monogram to make it easier.

In other news, I decided I want to become a good cook, dammit! I love love love food. And actually, I like cooking, I just don't take the time for it. I really learned to cook from Rachael Ray. She taught me how to put some things together, chop and take shortcuts. Poor FI has suffered through my first attempts - esp. RR's day old tomato bread soup - lets just say we threw out that attempt. But now, I want to move beyond my simple skillet chicken or ground turkey techniques, because they just are cutting it anymore. June Cleaver am I not but I would like to be able to produce a great dinner complete with dessert and appetizer. I recently got turned onto Cooking Light website. They seem to have great recipes that aren't heavy but still have flavor - not just barley and lemon juice. We are having guests this weekend, so I'm going to try to have spinach and artichoke dip and breakfast prepared for them! Hmm. We will see how this goes.

Oh, I saw this new fragrance from Vera Wang - seems perfect for all pink lovers:

Good Luck cooking this weekend. I always have luck with Paula Dean's meals. Be careful of anything too complicated in cooking light. I used to subscribe to their magazine, but have had trouble with their light "comfort food" dishes!

When I first saw that tote I thought it would be so cute if you added a monogram!

I was happy to help out! As for the monogram part, I just waited to get things monogrammed till after my wedding. I know it is so hard to wait, but I am not a big fan of the one letter monogram. I think it depends on your last name though, I just wasn't a big fan of the P alone. I can't help with the cooking though, I do know how to order better than anyone though! ;)
That was me that deleted my post for spelling errors.

Cooking Light has a great website and there is always a dinner idea on the homepage that looks interesting. When I lived in NYC and had a kitchen that was smaller than my bathroom I never cooked. Now, I cook all the time. It is pretty fun.
