It is hard to believe it is Wednesday already!
Some random things I've been enjoying:
How to Look Good Naked on Lifetime network. Gals, seriously, this show is an EYE opener. Carson Kressley basically makes over the self esteem of women who don't have positive body image. He shows them how to get better undergarments, dress better and feel better. This is the best "makeover" show I've ever seen. I honestly laughed and cried. One segment that was enlightening was when Carson showed a video of 3 different women walking down the street in 3 different types of outfits. One looked younger, stylish and more confident (and slimmer), come to find out it was the same woman. He also has Layla (the lady on the show) put herself in a line of women where she thought her body size was - she was way off! Anyway, just really opens your eyes to body image and how a lot of women don't give themselves any credit. I'll be checking it out next week for sure!

And onto something a little, ahem, less uplifting: Real Housewives of Orange County. It's official, I'm obsessed with this show. Hilarious and yet, fascinating. Will people watch this in 50 years and think that is how women lived? hmmmm...anyway, good for brainless TV. In fact, I may be getting the other seasons so as to "catch up" ;) I found out even my mother watches this show! My mother, who hates cable, hates the internet and will usually only watch the news, watches the Housewives.

Little things in life I enjoy, like our new kitchen cabinets. Our townhouse is by no means luxury but well built with new/nice appliances. They had just updated the cabinets and seriously, it thrills me when I open a smooth, heavy drawer. And what thrills me even more is that we have cabinet space for almost all of our kitchen stuff. Ahh, the small things!

Which leads me to this book I thumbed through at the Barnes & Noble, The Southern Cottage. I love it! I mean really just encompasses the style I love: comfortable, clean and bright. As a lover of the "cozy" (should really just rename the blog that because I mention cozy about every day!) I loved the houses and really gave me some inspiration for decorating.

Speaking of decorating, I love "subway tiles," the clean white look. This Subway Ceramics website has fabulous pictures of the tile in bathrooms. I love it for kitchens and/or bathrooms. In fact, every time I see the tiles on a tv show or in a store, I tell my husband and he says, "Babe, I know...you've mentioned it 345435 times, we will have subway tile one day." What can I say, I'm a repeater - he knew what he was getting into.
Now, if only I had a house to work with...!!

Sorry, this just sparked a random rant, be forewarned. You know what annoys me? I talk about houses and the Mr. and I are keeping our eyes open in the next year or 2 to buy because really? We are tired of throwing away money on rent and are ready to make some investments. But I know plenty of people, including several friends of mine, who are younger than me who are married and walked into a house the day they got married. Now, listen, plenty of people can afford that - but my friends and people I know who have just graduated, bought houses and are now decorating with antiques, orientals and other expensive wares? You're in your early twenties, you have time to work on this. The house doesn't have to be perfect! One thing the Mr. and I are looking forward to is working together for our future. Finding a house we want, working towards it and doing it together. I just don't like when people expect certain things early on. Oh well!!

I think I'm off to the mall, we still have a few gift cards we got as wedding presents! Woo for late presents. Have a great day!

I know what you mean - Adam and I are in our early late twenties (that's what I call 27) and will definitely not be able to afford a decent home until we are at least in our early thirties. this is the cost of living in the Boston area and I accept that...but I have frieds out of state/ who live farther from the city who "walked into" a house after getting married and constantly talk about how much better it is to own than rent. I KNOW it is. I don't need to hear it a hundred times. Believe me, If i had an extra 100grand lying around I would definitely be buying a house! I'm not bitter though. I swear.

I love Carson so I am going to have to check out his new show. I saw him on Regis and Kelly.

I love that book, I have quite a few others as well, that is my idea of cozy as well.

I married at 31 and "walked" right back into our rental apartment! Believe me, house buying and all that comes with it will happen in time and honestly sometimes I miss renting. Now when my toilet is clogged the only person I have to call to fix it is myself!

I am dying to see the How To Look Good Naked show! I missed it last week, so it's DVRd now!

I love the Real housewives! They're so ridiculous!

Gotta look for that Carson show. The Real Housewives are a hoot. I can't stand Tamara though, she has zero class!

Well, I walked into a house when I got married at 26, but only because I married someone 8 years older! We've since traded up housewise, but the only antiques we have are the ones we inherited from his grandparents.

Just the other night a girlfriend and I were talking about another one of our friends who just has it so easy. Everything she does, she has, has just 'happened' and it's so frustrating! I feel you!

The new cabinets sound so nice. I have never watched either of those tv shows, but they both sound very interesting (for different reasons). :) I love subway tile also. We have it in our bathrooms. I need to look for that southern cottage book. Thanks for the excellent recommendations!

I missed the how to look good naked show. I'll have to look for the repeat. It looks like a good show and I have missed the last several episodes of the Housewives! I forget when it's on!
