Things on my mind and resolutions..(?)

- Our first Christmas together was just how we wanted it. We got to eat a Christmas meal, enjoy our Christmas lights and movies on tv. It wasn't exactly how I imagined our first and wasn't as Normal Rockwell decorated as I hoped - but life ain't! New Years was perfect and cozy and dear lord, I cannot start drinking cocktails at dinner and be expected to stay awake until the stroke of midnight!!

- Umm, it is cold. VERY cold and I bundled up to take Ralph for a walk this morning and I do believe the poor guy was shivering too, so we cut it short back to the house. At least the sun was out, meanwhile, I'll try take advantage of the "cozy" of our house and the warmth inside.

- Unpacking = biggest pain in the rear. However, I find organizing almost therapeutic, and that is how I've been utilizing my time.

-Speaking of cozy and being inside, we here at the house of TP have been introduced to Digital cable and DVR. Dangerous. Awesome. I'm discovering and recording shows like Desperate Housewives of Orange County. Oh, the insanity! The trashy shows! I love it. Bring it on. Also, the Mr. and I have channeled our British side - one of his favorite shows is Top Gear (on the Speed channel which the Mr. is Elated about having!) and I've discovered Ramsey's Kitchen nightmares (Gordon Ramsey before he was on his American show as the horrific chef).

- Lasagna tonight for dinner - "Oven Ready" noodles? Yay or nay? I bought them thinking how easy it will be and now I'm nervous to try them out.

- Outlets vs. Stores. For example, I went to some outlets over the break - after Christmas and got a few Amazing deals at J.Crew. Bootcut cords for $17.00, argyle sweater for 29.99 and bangles for 9.99. Also, should have bought a herringbone blazer for about $60.00 but I was feeling the shopper's remorse. Now, I'm kicking myself. Also! I picked up a wallet (that was originally online for $98 and I got it for about $24) that I'd been eyeing at Banana Republic for awhile......All that to say, I enjoy the merchandise at the outlets better, they usually have some of the same lines available online but also different lines. I get sick of going to stores to only see a small fraction of their offerings. J.Crew's selection of accessories, bags and pajamas was great! I mean, of course, I love outlets for the prices, but now I'm liking the selections better too.

- Resolutions or as I like to say, just "re-focusing" on the routine. I think the New Year is just a good way to start over or continue the things one wants to work on. I'm continously thinking about things I want to do or try.
However, I have been Entirely slack on working out. Ugh, feeling very UN toned these days. Therefore, the plan is to sign up for a 5k in the spring (like May. ha!) Hubby and I both want to get back into our running routines and as a few of you have mentioned the "Couch to 5k" program is great (and I think, feasible.) Back to eating healthy, normal meals again. I forgo the "low-carb, south beach etc. diets (because, really, I've tried it and I'm just not cut out for all meat and cheeses) BUT I do want to focus on adding more fruits, veggies and whole wheat into the diet. Along with cutting out some desserts. Nothing crazy just re-focusing on the good stuff. Also, it feels good to get that "re-focused" motivation back. Last fall was hard for me and now I'm ready to get my MA finished and out of the way. I also have been (and still kind of am) freaking out about not having a job....I just haven't NOT had a job in so long it feels strange but I have a few things I'm looking towards and meanwhile, getting us back in working order!
So, for 2008, re-focusing on getting healthy and enjoying a new place with my husband!
(and getting to outlets more often ;)

OMG. TopGear is one of the BEST SHOWS EVER. Boyfriend and I have all the episodes downloaded on his computer, since American broadcasting seems to waver. Also? I have a total crush on Richard Hammond. :)

If you're going to use oven ready noodles, just make sure your sauce is REALLY saucy. The noodles take from that to cook. I've personally never really liked them and always go with the old school boil'em up variety.

Low-carb is bullshit. (sorry) You can't sustain that lifestyle for long without getting sick. And Lisagh is right about oven ready noodles. I say nay but that could just be my ineptitude in the kitchen!

I've done Couch to 5K lots of times to get back into running - you can DEFINITELY do it! Good luck!

I only use oven ready and I love them. The boy LOVES lasagna and I have never heard a complaint. So jealous that you have a JCrew outlet so close.

Your resolutions are great, and I like how you describe "re-focusing on the routine."
